Sophie Taeuber Arp is a Swiss-born artist whose body of diverse art stems from her involvement in the Dada art movement.  In 1915 she met fellow Dadaism artist Jean Arp. They married in 1922, and 1926 moved to France, where she worked with Joaquin Torres Garcia.  During this period, she became associated with Sonia Delaunay and Wassily Kandinsky.  Taeuber-Arps's art encompasses some of the most exciting modern art paintings, which move between constructivism art and modern abstract art.

This multi-faceted artist was a dancer, a furniture designer, an architect, as well as an artist and painter.   Today she is recognized as one of the most versatile artists of the 20th century.

Composition of Circles and Overlapping Angles by Taeuber Arp was created in 1930 and is on view at the David Geffen Wing at MoMa.  In 2021 The Tate Modern reignited interest in the artist and her paintings.

Dynamic Circles 1934 by Sophie Taeuber Arp is believed to be the first painting to feature polka dots.  In 2021 MoMa's retrospective highlighted the depth and diversity of the incredible polymath that is Sophie Taeber Arp
